73 General Review of 1792 Sweet Wheat

1792 Sweet Wheat was a very difficult find here in the state of Georgia. Once I found it, I paid more than I should have. That expenditure is a little disappointing because Sweet Wheat definitely doesn't agree with my palate. After my first tasting, I gave it a couple of months to open up before my review, but that hasn’t changed my view.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 72

Minty cinnamon spice on the nose. Not much else.

Palate Review - Rating: 73

I’m getting a spicy pine harshness. Very little buttery "sweet"ness. Not much complexity. The longer you sip the creamier it gets, with a nice buttery sweetness. However, there is still an unusual aftertaste that is difficult to describe.

Finish Review - Rating: 73

The finish has a very mild warmth that lasts a while.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 74

If something is unique but doesn't taste that good, how should it be rated?

Value Review - Rating: 75

1792 Sweet Wheat Bourbon seems to be allocated in most areas. It's rare to get it at retail or simply to find it.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
