Knob Creek 12 Year Bourbon seems to be a nutty and mildly sweet bourbon with a nice peppery finish. While it is a decent bourbon, it is not great, nor particularly memorable. If you can find the 9 to 11 year Knob Creek store picks, they are better, in my opinion.

Detailed Tasting Notes
Nose Review - Rating: 79
The nose has a sweeter than average traditional bourbon aroma. There is very little complexity on the nose of this straight bourbon, but there is what seems to be a tad bit of fruitiness. As soon as you open the bottle, the traditional rich oak, caramel, and vanilla notes permeate the air. After the bourbon sits in the glass a while, those pleasing notes start to weaken.
Palate Review - Rating: 78
The palate starts with a very pleasing nuttiness closely followed by a mild sweetness. On the second wave, there is a delightful sweet oak with hints of black pepper. At its core, this Knob Creek 12 year bourbon is a nutty and mildly sweet Bourbon with a nice peppery finish. While it is good bourbon, it is not great nor particularly memorable. There are no distinguishing characteristics that would separate this from any other good bourbon. There is no richness of viscosity.
Finish Review - Rating: 82
The finish is possible the best part of this experience. It is moderately long. The spicy finish and the nutty, sweet palate seem to be this bourbon's strong point. Of course, it depends on the individual's preference.
Uniqueness Review - Rating: 75
No distinguishing or unique characteristics.
Value Review - Rating: 80
$59.99 is a good price point for a 12-year bourbon. Of course, age does not necessarily correspond to taste.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
