Rare Breed is just amazing. I often find myself comparing every barrel-proof bourbon to this staple of Wild Turkey's line of offerings. The nose is a perfect blend of sweet and spicy, with a kick of high-proof alcohol.
The taste is sweet caramel and vanilla upfront that quickly transitions to a spicy fruit, which I compare to baked cinnamon apples that I loved as a kid. It certainly drinks below its proof and is relatively easy to sip neat. The finish is long and satisfying. It leaves you searching for all the complex notes as the sweet and spice battle each other like two All-American linemen down in the trenches of a Deep South rivalry game.
Sometimes the sweet push through, but the spice pushes right back. And I can't get enough of it. Just ordered a case of RB so that I never have to worry about running out. If you can find it under $50, it's a steal.
