Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Unfiltered, the Mixtape 4BBL (Batch 1), is one of the best bourbon values under $40. Evidently, these are blended single-barrels that survived the June 2019 rickhouse collapse that destroyed much of Blue Note’s inventory. Those barrels were exposed to the elements for four months, and this unique experience created an outstanding 3-year-old bourbon.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 80

Very mild oak and very mild ethanol are the first things I get on the nose. There’s a very light cherry sweetness, followed by vanilla wafers and honey—a bit of rye spice. The mild oak seems to keep coming back.

Palate Review - Rating: 82

The first notes I get on the Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut palate are a little bit of cherry and milk chocolate. While there is a slight viscosity to the mouthfeel, there is also a lovely balance between sweetness and spiciness, both hitting the palate simultaneously. The oak is there as well. This is a pleasant tasting, with the palate being the best part of the experience.

Finish Review - Rating: 76

The finish is between the short and medium range.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 79

The taste and complexity are unexpected at this price point, resulting in a reasonably unique $40 experience.

Value Review - Rating: 85

Value is where Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut shines. Readily available at $39.99, this may be one of the best bourbon values under $40.
