Detailed Tasting Notes
Nose Review - Rating: 79
Initially, Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond had a very nice, decadent, and rich nose with a traditional candy caramel upfront. However, the ethanol smell was VERY present, even after sitting a while. After the initial opening of the bottle, the aroma became simple and never returned to its initial richness.
Palate Review - Rating: 82
The palate has a strong spicy kick to begin. Very light oak in the background with nuttiness, but the medium spice is king here. Black pepper is present, grain. Very little caramel. Very light viscosity. Overall, a slightly above average palate. I would prefer some sweetness to balance out the oak, nuts, and spice, but there’s not much there.
Finish Review - Rating: 76
Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond has a medium-length black pepper and nutty-spice finish. I am also getting an unusual aftertaste that is hard to describe.
Uniqueness Review - Rating: 76
For my palate, this is the definition of average.
Value Review - Rating: 78
The retail price has jumped up to $59.99 recently. However, this is not worth the 59-69 they are asking for it.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
