80 Highly Rated Bourbon General Review of Larceny Barrel Proof B522

Larceny Barrel Proof B522 maintains Larceny's wonderfully consistent cinnamon and brown sugar theme while still being able to separate itself from Larceny's previous batches.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 81

The nose of Larceny Barrel Proof B522 is a little different than the recent batches. The aroma starts as a soft candied oak with only a little spice. For many of the previous batches, the cinnamon spice was very evident but less so for B522. The nose maintains a richness that you would expect with Larceny Barrel Proof. After you take a sip and let the glass sit for a moment, the nose turns to mild cinnamon spice and sweet oak. Again, this is more mellow than you would expect if you are familiar with the batches from the past two years.

Palate Review - Rating: 78

The palate is a little strange. There is a sweet-salty pepper theme to begin with. A little bit of sweet buttery richness with heat and light cinnamon mixed in. Please make no mistake; the wheated ethanol kick is also present—dark oak and the typical Larceny Barrel Proof brown sugar sweetness.

Finish Review - Rating: 79

The finish also has a sweetness, but clearly, the warmth is something you feel. It radiates for a while. There is also a somewhat strange leathery black pepper aftertaste.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 80

The thing I love about Larceny Barrel Proof is that each batch is distinctly different but still keeps the candied cinnamon and brown sugar theme.

Value Review - Rating: 84

With an MSRP of $59.99 and a consistently good profile, Larceny Barrel Proof B522 is still a value buy.
