The Pinhook Bourbon War 7-Year True Single Barrel Vertical Series has been a pleasure to follow thus far. The Vertical Series follows a group of MGP bourbon barrels aged four to twelve years. I currently have the 7-Year, 114.8-proof, unfiltered, and cask-strength bourbon and the 6-year. Both of these expressions have been well worth the purchase.

Detailed Tasting Notes
Nose Review - Rating: 86
On the nose of Pinhook Bourbon War 7-Year True Single Barrel Vertical Series, there’s a beautiful, candied dry fruit aroma that is unique. After that dissipates, you can smell the rye spice and molasses mix. The molasses and dried herb, clove, take over the nose. It’s crazy, but I picked it up to drink after letting it sit for a moment, and I got a whiff of sweet plums. After the first sip, the aroma settles into a soft molasses and clove mix.
Palate Review - Rating: 82
The palate drinks a little hot at first with molasses and baking spice mix. After the heat from the first sip settles down, on the subsequent pours, you start to feel the mild density of the bourbon. There is a subtle creaminess and thickness that will undoubtedly pick up as this vertical series ages. I am looking forward to some of the future releases of the Pinhook Bourbon War True Single Barrel Vertical Series. The clove and pepper mix seems to take over the deeper you get into the pour. After letting it sit for a minute or so, the sweetness comes back strong and is offset again by the proof's heat.
Finish Review - Rating: 82
On the finish of the Pinhook Bourbon War 7-Year True Single Barrel Vertical Series, the clove spice lingers and lingers. Strange, but it is hotter on the front end than the finish. The finish is pleasantly warm and lasting.
Uniqueness Review - Rating: 79
It has a typical bourbon profile that you will find in many bourbons. Although the flavor profile is not unique, it is still a good whiskey.
Value Review - Rating: 80
Priced correctly at 69.99 to 79.99, the Pinhook Bourbon War 7-Year True Single Barrel Vertical Series will not disappoint.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
