Nose Review - Rating: 86
A delightful aroma began as soon as I opened the bottle of Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon. Initially, I was getting evident brown sugar notes with oak layered behind them. Overall the smell is vibrant even with the mild, very mild ethanol. A pleasant rye spice aroma becomes more evident the longer you allow the bourbon to sit in the glass. There’s nothing thin about this experience. Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon is chewy and moderately heavy. The rye spice evolves into other baking spices, particularly mild cinnamon. After taking a sip, a hint of oak reveals itself on the nose. When I take big whiffs, there is a fruitiness that I cannot specifically identify.
Palate Review - Rating: 82
I was a little surprised by the heat on the palate since this is “only“ 108 proof. The heat and strikingly rich flavor of this bourbon hit me immediately. I am a high-proof drinker, and the heat shocked me, but what was even more shocking was how abruptly the intense flavor followed. Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon is peppery, oily, sweetness in the form of burnt caramel, and oaky. It is bold and even a little daring. Oily and hot. Seasoned neat-drinking bourbon enthusiasts will enjoy this. I am still getting a lot of sweet black pepper. It takes a little while for your taste buds to adapt to the heat, but it is enjoyable once it does. I would assume that these whiskeys are young because of the sharpness, but the oil in this throws me off a bit. Incidentally, I always get that some edginess with wheated bourbons. If Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon were a little smoother, it would be spectacular.
Finish Review - Rating: 84
The finish is long and bold. Once again, the peppery and sweet spice is present and lasts a very long time. Oak and tobacco. The oiliness lingers as well.
Uniqueness Review - Rating: 80
Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon Whiskey is unique. They are excellent blenders. The percentage of the Tennessee whiskey sourced from Cascade Hollow balances out the brown sugary sweetness beautifully.
Value Review - Rating: 78
With an MSRP of $65, this is priced appropriately.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
