Detailed Tasting Notes

Nose Review - Rating: 86

The nose is very mild. Initially, I was not getting many notes. So, let it sit for a little bit, picked it back up, and immediately the cinnamon spice comes through. After letting it sit a little bit longer, a little bit of vanilla, caramel, oak, and even some cherry seem to come through. After the tasting, I went back to the nose and it was more sweet than spicy. That was a very pleasant surprise. After the bottle has been open for a little while the nose stays consistently rich with a beautiful and weighty candied oak and cinnamon spice foundation.

Palate Review - Rating: 87

The palate opens with a nice flavorful spicy heat. Yet, at 116.8 Proof it is silky smooth. For some reason, I thought it was closer to 100 proof. There’s a nice little peppery kick but not over the top. While is very little complexity here, the moderately sweet cinnamon spice and rich oak do their jobs. The mouth feel is moderately oily too. I cannot think of too many bourbons, if any, at this price point and proof that drink this beautifully.

Finish Review - Rating: 80

The finish is of medium length and tapers off slowly, which is good. However, I would expect the finish to be a little bolder at this proof, but I guess you can’t get everything at this price point.

Uniqueness Review - Rating: 82

I can think of a few bourbons that have a similar taste profile; while not exact. However, few are this refined.

Value Review - Rating: 95

At $49.99 and rising this is one of the best value-priced bourbons on the market. Let's see if it stays that way.

Smell IS taste. I am just a guy who has been hit with the bourbon bug and who has come to the conclusion that life is too short to drink average tasting bourbons. Go Gators!
